About Robert

Robert Elslander

Inspired by artists in the café of his father < Het Wachtje > at the Malieveld in The Hague and by visits to the Mauritshuis and Panorama Mesdag, as well as exhibitions and painters’ studios, Robert starts to draw in his own style. As from 1962 onward he is painting with pure oilpaint on canvas fixed on wood. The paint is put on straight from the tube with thin saté-sticks in a way that the vivid colours do have got a distinct special structure.

The great variety of subjects has been based on his < no war but peace > positive thinking vision and do have a close link with daily life.

His studies became a basis of work for many companies inside the Netherlands and abroad. Both for business and in private he travelled all over the world and made in this way acquaintance with interesting cultures, which can be traced in his < integrated harmony > paintings.

Robert < registered at the State Office for Art Historic Documentation > in The Hague started to exhibit in 2004 in the magnificent mediaeval castle of Bojnice – Slovakia – after east-european countries joined the E.U. Thereafter exhibitions followed in many places in the Netherlands < Galerie des Beaux Arts in Heeze – Galerie Papillon in Amsterdam + in Eindhoven: Van Abbe; Brunswijck; Wissehaege; ‘t Lint; Engelsbergen; Kortonjo; Galerie AES Artworks and Philips PVGE >. Moreover his collection has been presented to the public by living in France and Belgium.
